What is H2S? Hydrogen sulfide is the chemical compound with the formula H2S. It is a colorless gas with the characteristic foul odor of rotten eggs; it is heavier than air, very poisonous, corrosive, flammable, and explosive; properties shared with the denser hydrogen chalcogenides. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic and flammable gas

Being heavier than air, it tends to accumulate at the bottom of poorly ventilated spaces. Although very pungent at first, it quickly deadens the sense of smell, so victims may be unaware of its presence until it is too late. For safe handling procedures, a hydrogen sulfide material safety data sheet (MSDS) should be consulted.

OSHA deals specifically with FR clothing in the 1910.269 “Maintenance Standard” for electric utilities. OSHA expects to add more stringent requirements for FR clothing in future OSHA regulations, including revisions of existing laws. Personal Protective Equipment
OSHA requires you to protect workers from potential hazards in workplace operations. Personal protective equipment (PPE) reduces employee exposure to hazards. Employers are required to determine if PPE should be used. The level of protection you provide your workers must match the hazards they’re exposed to. You should also have PPE available for whatever emergency situation could arise in your operations. Cool Down Trailers
